Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 13th

Note: This update is for the Steam Deck Beta and Preview channels, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

General

Fixed 25 second startup time regression

Desktop Mode

Fixed CTRL+A in the library accidentally selecting everything in the window.
Fixed artwork modal sizing height based on screen width. This fixes the close button being off-screen on taller images.
Fixed a case where closing the login UI would not cause the Steam process to exit.
Achievement progress is now correctly updated in the library and overlay UI
Fixed some dropdown menus dismissing on hover.
For some games that use Steam Datagram Relay (SDR), the In-Game overlay now shows the current ping, packet loss, route, number of active connections, and whether your IP address has been shared.

Steam Input

Fixed Gyro to Mouse stuttering when moving the Gyro very slowly (most apparent over Bluetooth).

Remote Play

Fixed controller gyro when streaming to the Steam Link app
Automatically focus on the PIN entry field when the pairing pin dialog is shown

Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 12th

Added notifications for messages from moderators in the Steam Discussions
Fixed issue viewing a screenshot's web page after uploading it.
Fixed issue preventing games that were available through EA Play from being installed.
Fixed issue where broadcasts on the store failed to play on some systems.

Steam Deck Desktop

Additional fixes for forward and back buttons leading users to unexpected entries in their navigation history.
Fixed issue dragging the client window when showing the library after scrolling game details up slightly.

Friends & Chat

Styling tweaks to the Friends List and chat window
Removed chat settings now that they have been merged into General Settings
Fixed animated avatars not loading after login when login at startup is disabled

Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 8th

Fixed issue where after a client restart, notifications that were already viewed are displayed again as new
Fixed some issues where navigation history would get out of sync when using the forward and back buttons
Server Browser - You can now add a favorite server by IP address
Fixed hang streaming a game from a Linux computer
Double-clicking the Steam icon in the system tray will now open to the default Steam window (as specified in Settings > Interface)
Improved performance of the interface in the overlay when animated Steam avatars are enabled
Fixed taskbar icons not grouping together.

Steam Deck Beta Client Update: June 6th

Fixed Steam Linux Runtime compatibility tools not being installed to support a title in some cases.

Steam Input

Put Nintendo Switch controllers into simple mode when Steam Input isn't active. This also turns off the home LED when in simple mode, as users expect.
Gyroscope as Joystick/DPad/Buttons/Lean were using yaw correction-to-the-average-heading, causing subtle drift over time, especially in games which involved a lot of turning in one direction (driving games, flight sims). This was also used in GetMotionData (Steam Input API) affecting titles which used the sensor fusion quaternion for aiming. The correction toward the average has now been removed.
Deferred Sensor Fusion: Accelerometer correction (i.e. pitch correction from gravity sensors) for these modes is applied opportunistically - when the controller is rotating fast, or the controller is stationary (determined by stationary noise tolerances in the calibration page). This reduces noticeable "ouija effect" during fine aiming in our experiments. Note, none of the above gyro changes affect "Gyro As Mouse", which only uses Gyroscope readings, not Accelerometer.
The top allowed noise threshold for gyroscope in the Gyro Calibration page has been increased 3 fold to allow abnormally noisy gyroscopes to pass the drift correction/calibration process.

Desktop Mode

Fixed an error trying to delete a local screenshot from the game details page.
Fixed incorrect pending wallet balance.
Fixed an issue that led to incorrect menu positions.
Fixed incorrect file type options being selected by default when setting custom artwork for a game.
Rearranged and reworded several items on the friends list context menu to make them more clear.
Fixed the friend menu causing a black bar on the underlying chat or group window in some cases.
